Team news: meet Darcy

Darcy Williams has returned to his hometown of Ballarat for work during a break from study. Read about how this Data Science student has found himself working in property.

Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a Ballarat local, having grown up and completed my schooling here, but I’m currently living in Melbourne for university in a share house with my sister (luckily we get along well!).

I am completing a Bachelor of Science at The University of Melbourne, focusing on all things Maths and Computing. At this stage, I’m looking to major in Data Science, but I’m keeping my options open!

A passionate triathlete, I train twice a day. When I’m not injured my strongest leg is the run.

What is your role with Hygge?

Across the last semester I’ve been working in Hygge’s Melbourne office, updating cash flows, entering data and assisting with any other tasks that need completing.

During my semester break I’ve been working at the Hygge Ballarat office in the Nightingale building for three days a week.

Funnily enough, my high school work experience was with Joseph (Hygge Director) in the Ballarat Hygge office and it’s been great to come back and see a bit more about development and how things have changed in the industry and for Hygge itself.

It’s also been interesting to look at things with a new perspective as a student of data science.

What have you enjoyed about working from the Ballarat Central office?

With Lake Wendouree only a kilometre away from the office it’s extremely easy to go for a run or ride around work hours. I would go for a swim in it if it wasn’t winter. I might have to come back in summer to try a lap of the course on my lunch break!
